The Byron Pregnancy Support Group

The Byron Pregnancy Support group has been running close to 20 years in the Byron Shire region of Northern NSW and is an asset in our community. Started by a dedicated team of privately practicing Homebirth Midwives, the group was a regular supportive pregnancy meeting for women and their partners to learn about pregnancy and birth and way to get to know your local midwives, it also provided a postnatal support group.  The group then evolved to what its is today.....
There have been other pregnancy support groups in our area, including the wonderful Homebirth Support Group which ran in Mullumbimby for over 5 years.

Community Support Groups NNSW

Postnatal support groups

The Pregnancy Support Group as a Community Builder

Many of the women who attend a community Pregnancy Support Group (as opposed to ante-natal classes), find that the friendships and connections they make during such a profound time in their lives, stay with them as they journey through the early years of motherhood, offering much needed emotional, mental and even physical sustenance to those who can access them.
