PBB Media started as an incredible community project - the Pregnancy Birth and Beyond radio program in 2010 with a vision to bring information to parents and the community that mirrored the experiences of families and community members. When Annalee Atia joined our project in late 2014 she recognised the potential to build the radio show into a multi-media project in order to reach wider audiences and consolidate team member efforts of improving outcomes for mothers, their babies, their families and communities through the various volunteer work they were all involved in. Lara Martin and Sally Cusack threw their energies into this mammoth effort with Annalee, starting with building this website and applying successfully for a place in the Walkley Awards Incubator Program in 2017, among many other side projects. As it happens, growth was occurring on all levels and the Pregnancy, Birth and Beyond radio show got picked up by the CRN - Australia National Community Radio network. Almost simultaneously we also applied and were delighted to receive a significant grant that changed both the way we do radio and the way we podcast our show. With the ongoing and stellar support of the CBAA - the Community Broadcasting Association of Australia and the backing of our patient community radio station 99.9 BayFM, the journey was made from a few mums working hard to maintain a volunteer weekly magazine-style community radio program to a fully fledged and committed quality controlled weekly live local radio show, weekly national show available through the CNR and our popular Pregnancy, Birth and beyond Podcast which now has over 230,000 listeners world-wide.
This initial and rapid growth supported our efforts and vision to grow the radio program into a media project including local and regional events, ongoing community groups, screenings and information nights, projects & campaigns and a collation of online copy and other content as well as ongoing efforts to build and maintain close relationships with the main stakeholders in maternity care and beyond. Our team is growing and changing and evolving along with us and we are grateful for their contributions and the incredible versatility and passion they bring to this project that we now call PBB Media.
We are FULL of ideas over here, and being a collaboration of our size, new ideas coming our way all the time. Head over to our Projects page to find out more.

Oni Blecher: Secretary, Vice President 2020 - 2025
Oni lives in Mullumbimby and works with her hands in cranio sacral work, Arvigo Mayan Abdominal Therapy (Incl pregnancy massage), fascial release and recently trained in urogenital osteopathy. Currently, her academic research efforts are in the direction of Australian masculinities and male mental health and she hopes these studies will enable her to assist fathers in the postnatal period. Oni studied two years in Bachelor of Midwifery before branching off into other forms of support for mothers and families in the antenatal, birth and postnatal periods. Oni co facilitated weekly postnatal support groups in Murwillumbah with midwife and antenatal educator Sali McIntyre where both women embody village style support and co-creative education. Oni is passionate about interdisciplinary health and how we can all expand each other’s skills and awareness through discussion and positive problem solving through skills sharing and cross pollination. Through this shared expansion, Oni sees a different way of parents, children and families interacting within communities.
